CHARLOTTE, N.C.,None — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police raided two South Charlotte houses today, hauling out an estimated 160 pounds of marijuana, heat lamps and cash. Police valued the stash at $800,000.
Neighbors stood on Netherwood Drive, watching police swarm the street for hours.
"The smell right now -- and it's not even burning as they carry it out. It's amazing," said neighbor Kitty Smith.

After emptying the Netherwood Drive house, officers raided a second house around the corner on Burnley Road.
Danielle Moutselos lives next door to the Burnley Road house.

"It's scary and shocking because you never see anyone over there, really, and to learn that's right next to my house, that's very shocking," Moutselos said.
Neighbors said the man who owned both homes claimed he dealt precious jewels.
Eyewitness News cameras caught an unidentified man in handcuffs. CMPD officers would not comment on camera, and the department has not released the name of the suspect.

"It's kind of unsettling that it's being done so close to our house, but I'm glad it's ending today," neighbor Michael Smith said.
Police said they may release more information on the massive bust later on Friday.
