Police: Woman crashes after shoplifting attempt

None — Police said a woman crashed her car after a police chase in Cornelius.

Police said they responded to a call at a Huntersville Kohls Saturday morning.

They said less than a half a mile away, in Cornelius, an officer saw the car matching the description as it pulled into a Home Depot.

Police said Antoinette Norris went inside, came back out and when an officer tried to stop her, she got in her car and tried to back him over.

Police said the officer was dragged briefly and Norris took off. The officer was not seriously hurt.

Officers said the chase ended at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Beratties Ford Road.

They said Norris slammed into two cars stopped at a red light before police arrested her.

Norris faces about a dozen charges, including assault on a police officer, speeding to elude a crime, and careless and wreckless driving.

Eyewitness News found out Norris has two previous larceny charges on her record. She also has several traffic violations including two charges of driving with a revoked license.
