MARSHVILLE, N.C — Marshville police said a woman in her 30s was found dead in her car early Sunday morning. A passerby noticed the white Chrysler vehicle in the middle of South White Street and found the victim slumped over in the driver's seat.
The State Bureau of Investigation is looking into the incident. Police said Alicia Sligh, 34, died from head trauma.
Sligh is a mother who recently moved to Union Street from Wingate with her husband and two children. Her body was found half a mile from her home.
Police said her husband has been cooperative, as have the children and other family members. At this point police said they have not ruled anyone out in her death, nor have they focused on anyone specifically.
Neighbor Pat Love said this type of crime does not happen on his street.
"Actually I was watching Channel 9 news this morning and saw it. It's bad it happened," said Love.
Police are trying to contact the victim's parents before releasing her name. They are treating this case as a homicide.

Neighbors said the lack of leads in the case was troubling.
Investigators spent Monday trying to piece together Sligh's movements in the last 24 hours before her death.
"It's sad, kind of close to home. There's a lot of questions unanswered at this moment," said Mike Hall.
"We can track her movements that evening. There was some cooking going on. She had gone to the grocery store, those kind of things but exactly what happened between 10 and three in the morning is really not clear at this point," said Chief Carl Webber.
