CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The annual 24 Hours of Booty began Friday at 7 p.m. at Myers Park Traditional School and Queens University in Myers Park.

The community event hosts over 1,200 riders and 200 walkers and will raise funds for the Levine Cancer Institute, Levine Children’s Hospital, The LIVESTRONG Foundation, and Queen’s University.

Teams of riders set up campsites, and take shifts riding in between eating and relaxing with friends -- all with the goal of saving lives.

The 3-mile loop in Myers Park consists of Queens Road West, Hopedale Avenue, Queens Road and Selwyn Avenue.

The ride is centered in the Myers Park neighborhood, also called home of the Booty Loop and Bootyville -- its own little city and headquarters.
