Rooftop Restaurant, Hotel Coming To Uptown

CHARLOTTE, N.C.,None — The old Park Condo building is getting a new lease on life just in time for the Democratic National Convention in 2012.

Small Brothers Construction Company has announced that it is turning the building into a new uptown mixed-use development, complete with rooftop restaurant and a hotel.

The 22-story building is next to the NASCAR Hall of Fame on the corner of 3rd and Caldwell streets.

The new plans call for ground-level retail stores, a 172-room luxury hotel, condos, fitness club, rooftop pool and more.

"We are excited to be bringing this type of development and unique project design to the Charlotte market," said Bud Balsom, vice-president of business development for Small Brothers.

Charlotte's first rooftop restaurant will be 9,000 square feet that includes indoor/outdoor seating with private dining, outdoor lounge and a Sky Bar with walls that open up to the roof area.

The restaurant will provide 360-degree views overlooking the Charlotte skyline..

The 67 condominium homes will range from 800 square feet for one-bedroom homes to 3,800 square feet for rooftop penthouses.

Construction is scheduled to begin later this month, and completion is slated for August 2012.
