No one was seriously injured when the pole fell, but several live wires fell on a truck.

"Next thing we know, there's a big flash, a little bit of smoke, a big bang and a whole bunch of wires over the roof of the truck (and) the hood of the truck," said Brandon Teague, who was inside the truck at the time. He and his friend said they didn't touch anything until emergency crews arrived and helped them get out safely.

Duke Energy said the pole was rotted and fell over on its own. While Duke Energy uses the pole, AT&T owns it. AT&T officials said the company performs routine inspections on the poles.

Eyewitness News asked when the pole was last inspected and what that inspection found, but AT&T did not respond with that information on Friday.
