Runners Race To Top Of Duke Energy Building

CHARLOTTE, N.C.,None — Five-hundred runners braved chilly temperatures to race to the top of one of Charlotte's tallest buildings.

Runners raced to the top of the Duke Energy Center's 49th floor, during the inaugural "Race To The Top" event. Climbers were divided into flights that started the climb every 15 seconds, based upon experience level.

The three fastest men, the three fastest women, and the overall fastest climber walked away with awards. The last heat of the day consisted of a number of Charlotte firefighters, sprinting up the stairs in full gear.
