Shelby Native To Appear On TLC's 'Say Yes To The Dress'

SHELBY, N.C.,None — Amanda Sherman has counted down the days until her wedding. She's even counted how many wedding dresses she's tried. Not one, 10 or 50. Sherman, a 2004 Shelby High School graduate, has tried on more than 150 dresses.

"I don't think I had a clear vision of what I wanted," Sherman said. "I liked everything."

Will she ever find the perfect the perfect gown? Only "Say Yes to the Dress" knows.

The TLC television series helping soon-to-be brides find the perfect gowns will share Sherman's story Friday. Her segment was filmed in Atlanta.

Sherman is currently in a clinical psychology graduate program at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. Her fiancé, Matt Seavey, works in Winston Salem.

She found the ad to apply for the show while shopping online for wedding dresses. She was shocked when the show's producers called her a few weeks later.

"I did it as a joke to begin with and didn't expect to hear anything back," Sherman said.

Her mother, Tammy Sherman, is excited for her daughter and described Amanda as "very particular."

For future brides, Amanda Sherman suggests being patient and enjoy the process of looking for dresses.

Her wedding is scheduled for Oct. 14 in Asheville.
