Police: Kidnapped Georgia mom, children found in South Carolina

POWDER SPRINGS, Ga. — Authorities in Georgia said a kidnapped mother and her two children have been found in South Carolina.

News outlets report 23-year-old Yajaira Lira Ramirez and her two toddlers were found Monday afternoon in Hardeeville, South Carolina after being kidnapped around 2 a.m. Monday in Powder Springs, Georgia.

Prosser said authorities are still searching for Portillo.

Powder Springs police Maj. Dwayne Prosser said 22-year-old Josue Armando Portillo kidnapped Ramirez and the children at knifepoint. Prosser said Ramirez was able to get away from Portillo and drive to a public place.

Hardeeville Police Chief Sam Woodward said Ramirez had some injuries and was taken to the hospital. Woodward wouldn't say how Ramirez escaped from Portillo.
