Teen charged in crash that killed her younger sister

CLEVELAND COUNTY, N.C.,None — Troopers charged a local teenager on Tuesday in connection with the death of her 11-year-old sister in a crash on Thanksgiving Day.

Beth Walker said her heart is full of regret over the loss of her younger sister, Amber Walker.

"She was just my best friend," she said.

Beth Walker said she doesn't fear prosecution for the crash.

"Because nothing can punish me more than this already has," she said.

Troopers said Walker, who's 17, doesn't have a license to drive.

She lost control of the SUV she was driving last week on Wes Cook Road, near the town of Casar. Beth Walker had her seat belt on, but Amber Walker did not. The 11-year-old was thrown from the vehicle and died.

"She is gone and I just have to live with that," Walker said.

Beth Walker said she has talked to her sister every day since the accident.

"(I) tell her I love her and I miss her and I can't wait to come and see her when it's my time," she said.

She said she accepts the charges against her, which include driving without a license and misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.

She said the regret she feels now is a terrible punishment.

"That she is gone -- nothing else matters," Walker said.
