Timeline In Lucy Johnson Case

None — July 16, 2008:

Lucy Johnson is shot and killed. Gaston County police find her body inside her burned-out home on Hidden Meadows Court in Gastonia.

July 17, 2008: Investigators with the State Bureau of Investigation and police sift through the ashes of the home, looking for clues.

July 30, 2008: Divers search a section of Lake Wylie in connection with the case. They focus on an area of the lake off the Allison Creek Boat Landing in York County, not far from the home of one of Johnson's ex-boyfriends.

Aug. 11, 2008: Police say two of Johnson's ex-husbands and one former boyfriend have been ruled out as suspects in her death. Investigators say Johnson's fiancé, Mike Mead, is still a person of interest.

Dec. 19, 2008: Johnson's autopsy report is released, revealing that the cause of death was a gunshot to the head. The report also says Johnson was 15 weeks pregnant with a boy.

Jan. 9, 2009: Police charge Mead with first-degree murder, first-degree arson and first-degree burglary in the case.

Feb. 26, 2009: Mead is released from jail on bond.

March 5, 2009: A judge grants prosecutors permission to seek the death penalty in the case.

June 14, 2011: Testimony begins in Mead's trial.
