SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — Three men are accused of shooting at each other while driving on Interstate 4 from Volusia County to Lake Mary.

Deputies said one of the weapons used was a paintball gun and the situation unfolded in front of a 9-year-old boy.

Deputies said the road-rage incident began Saturday morning in Volusia County on I-4.

Erick Salazar reportedly became angry with another driver for cutting him off, so he reached for his paintball gun and fired several shots at a truck.

Ten minutes later, the men inside the truck, Theodore Sterling and Justin Lizotte, caught up to Salazar as they crossed into Seminole County.

Deputies said Sterling pulled out a gun and fired a shot at Salazar’s car.

Then, Lizotte took a turn and also fired the gun at Salazar’s car, deputies said.

One of the shots hit the vehicle, where Salazar's 9-year-old son was a passenger, but no one was hurt.

Sterling told deputies he fired the gun in self-defense.

All three men, who are all in their 20s, are being held in the Seminole County Jail on a variety of charges.
