Georgia Engel of ‘Mary Tyler Moore Show' fame dead at 70

Actress Georgia Engel, best-known for her work on the hit "Mary Tyler Moore Show" in the 1970s died Friday in Princeton, New Jersey, at the age of 70, according to news reports.

Engel, with her soft-spoken voice and perfect comic timing, was nominated twice for her work as Georgette on the show.

A friend of actress told The New York Times that Engel's cause of death was undetermined because she was a Christian Scientist and did not see doctors.

She played parts in numerous television shows over her career, including “Everybody Loves Raymond” and “Hot in Cleveland.”

She was born in Washington, D.C. and graduated from high school in Bethesda, Maryland. She earned a college degree from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and is survived by two sisters.
