"The impact from the car broke her jaw, and seeing the condition she was in, most other places probably would've chosen to euthanize her," veterinary assistant Crystal Tate told ABC News. "But the doctors here thought we should give her a chance, so they attempted surgery to repair her jaw."

Tate fell in love with Duchess’ fighting spirit and adopted her after helping to treat her.

“Duchess’ jaw is still crooked and it will be for the rest of her life, but it hasn’t crushed her spirit,” Tate said. “We are still learning her quirks and helping her live her new life, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.”
