Family dog mauls, kills baby boy in South Dakota, deputies say

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — A baby boy from South Dakota died last week after a family dog attacked him in a Hartford home, authorities said.

According to The Associated Press, a pet Belgian Malinois mauled the 6-week-old child Thursday, the Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office said. The infant, who suffered multiple bite wounds, later died at a nearby hospital, officials said.

Authorities seized the dog, which is now in the care of the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society, the AP reported.
