DAVIE, Fla. — A Florida man killed his 11-year-old daughter before fatally shooting himself in a Davie home, authorities said.

According to the Sun Sentinel, the deadly shooting occurred shortly before 9 a.m. Monday at the family's Southwest 18th Court home. Police said Kenbian Ng shot and killed his daughter, Angela, who had been suffering from a terminal illness. He then shot himself and died at a nearby hospital, WTVD reported.

Angela's mother, who had been cooking breakfast at the time of the shooting, discovered her daughter's body, the Sun Sentinel reported.

"It was a devastating terminal illness," Lt. Mark Leone of the Davie Police Department told the Sun Sentinel. "She was not going to get any better."

Police believe Ng was distraught over the girl’s illness, a leg cancer for which she had undergone chemotherapy, according to the newspaper.
