A grand jury indicted Stokes, 41, in the February death of Tyrone Jones, the Queens County District Attorney said.

Stokes was charged with second-degree murder and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree. He faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted.

Surveillance video showed Stokes getting out of a vehicle parked around 2:15 p.m. Feb. 7 near the intersection of Linden Boulevard and 200th Street. He approached the driver-side window of a Jeep Grand Cherokee and fired 11 shots into the SUV. Jones died from his injuries.

“Gun violence is all too prevalent in our neighborhoods,” Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said in a statement. “We will not allow it to become the norm.”
