SULPHUR, La. — At least six people are recovering from injuries following an overnight blast at a Louisiana chemical plant, officials said.
According to WPLC, the incident occurred late Monday during maintenance at Westlake Chemical’s Petro Complex 2 Unit on state Highway 108 in Sulphur. The facility produces ethylene, a company spokesman said.
Sulphur resident Shawn Carter took to social media shortly before midnight local time to share a video of smoke rising from the plant, Newsweek reported.
