NORTH STONINGTON, Conn. — A New York couple was arrested Saturday after leaving their 4-year-old boy unattended in their car while they went into buy items at an adult store, investigators said.
Connecticut State Police said troopers were responded around 8 p.m. to the parking lot of Amazing Intimate Essentials Adult Store after the child was found in the car, WTNH reported.
Mortensen was arrested and charged with risk of injury to a minor and leaving a child unsupervised in a motor vehicle. She was released on $7,500 bond, The Day reported.
Investigators did not see a parent or guardian around, so they went into the store. Troopers said the boy’s 25-year-old mother, Victoria Mortensen, and her partner Monae J. Blake, 28, had been in the store for about 15 minutes, The Day reported.
Blake was arrested and charged with leaving a child unsupervised in a motor vehicle. She was released on $5,000 bond.
The Department of Children and Families were notified.
