In a news release, High Point police said that Demetris Holeman went to a Jimmy John’s to complain about her order. Employees at the store told police that she was known to staff and had previously been asked to leave.

Police said Holeman threw several items at the 16-year-old working behind the counter, and then stabbed her, WGHP reported.

“The sheer fact that an adult finds it OK to physically assault someone because a sandwich menu, or a sandwich order being wrong, is abhorrent,” High Point police captain Patrick O’Toole told WXII. “The fact that you were willing to assault someone, not only physically but with an edged weapon over a sandwich being wrong, I can’t explain how you come to that conclusion.”

Holeman was arrested a few hours later at her home on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, WSET reported.

Police told WXII the teenager was seriously hurt but will survive.
