According to The Associated Press, the 24-year-old won the women’s all-around competition at the 2021 U.S. Gymnastics Tournament in Fort Worth, Texas, marking her seventh time claiming the title. Her latest victory also set a new record: She has now logged more U.S. titles than any other female gymnast, NBC Sports reported.
Biles dominated this year’s competition with a score of 119.65, well ahead of second-place finisher Sunisa Lee’s 114.95 and Jordan Chiles’ 114.45, the Team USA website reported.
Biles’ win comes just weeks after she made headlines at the U.S. Classic in Indianapolis for becoming the first female gymnast to land a Yurchenko double pike vault in competition, the AP reported. Although Biles did not perform the move last weekend, she plans to attempt it again at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in St. Louis, according to the Team USA website.
