Texas girl, 5, ‘randomly’ stabbed in stomach at McDonald’s, police say; man arrested

EL PASO, Texas — A 5-year-old Texas girl is recovering after a man “randomly” stabbed her in the stomach at a McDonald’s restaurant in El Paso, authorities said.

According to KVIA-TV, the incident occurred about 1:45 p.m. Tuesday at the Dyer Street location of the fast-food chain. A 25-year-old man approached the girl while she was in the play area and attacked her, then fled, police said.

Emergency crews took the girl to a nearby hospital, where she was treated for serious injuries, KVIA reported. Her condition is now listed as stable, authorities said.

Police arrested the suspect less than two hours later at a motel, KWTX-TV reported. No further details were immediately available.
