Whitewater Center celebrates Labor Day with day-long festival

If you're looking for something fun and adventurous to do this Labor Day weekend, you might consider heading out to the U.S. National Whitewater Center as they celebrate the holiday with a day-long festival on Sunday, September 1.

The day begins at 9 a.m. with 5K and 15K trail races.  Both races will run through the woodlands of the USNWC trail system and will be followed by Labor Day festivities that include live music performances throughout the day from the likes of The Railers, Mockingbird Sun and The Dirty Guv'nahs.

There will also be a Build Your Own Boat Competition & Race where you can become master and commander of your own homemade, human-powered ship.  You'll need to build your vessel at home before navigating it down the Class IV whitewater in a competition against other boat-builders.

The festival will wrap up with an exciting display of fireworks over the man-made whitewater river after the sun sets.

The event is free and open to the public.  For more details, visit usnwc.org.
