Trip to chiropractor led to former model's death, coroner says

LOS ANGELES — A coroner in Los Angeles has ruled on the death of a former Playboy model and social media star with Pittsburgh ties.

Pleasant Hills, Pennsylvania, native Katie May died in February after suffering a stroke. She was 34 years old.

May had gone to the chiropractor for an adjustment after a fall.

Assistant chief coroner Ed Winter said the stroke was the result of an injury she sustained after a visit to the chiropractor where her neck was manipulated, tearing her left vertebral artery. The injury decreased blood flow to her brain.

Her death was ruled accidental.

She leaves behind a young daughter.
