Fan ‘growls' for Panthers in rap video

GREENVILLE, N.C. — Ked Woodley is not your typical rapper, but then again, most say the Carolina Panthers aren't a typical football team.

The Panthers inspired an entire community -- including the retired waiter, who lives in Greenville, North Carolina, and likes to set poetry to a beat.

“Since the organization started,” Woodley said by phone from his home in Greenville on Friday.

Press Play to hear Woodley's growl:

He said it took him two years to write the words to the Panther rap he calls "Dominate the Foe," but the star of the rap is the growl he pulls from deep in his belly, through his throat and out in a long, loud roar.

“That hurt, it really hurt, man. I got a migraine,” the longtime fan said.

And that growl was such a hit that it spawned a sequel.

A friend asked Woodley to bring his growl to his own video and the two have brought a lot of comments on line, many of them less than flattering.

Some critics on his YouTube video have not been so kind.

"I think it kicks (expletive) and that's what really matters, and I don't really care what they think about it," Woodley said.
