CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Vance Cougars defeated the Myers Park Mustangs, 21-13, in a 4-AA state semifinal clash Friday night.

Vance will face Wake Forest for the state championship next weekend.

Last week, Vance advances to the North Carolina High School Athletic Association 4-AA West Finals with a 34-21 win over Hough Friday night.

Just three weeks ago, the Cougars finished their regular season with an impressive 25-0 victory over Hough on Senior Night.

Vance showed its dominance over Hough for the second time in four weeks.

Vance led 13-7 at halftime and 27-21 at the end of the third quarter.

Hough ends its season with an 11-3 record.

Hough made it to the semifinals last year before getting knocked out, 20-10, by Mallard Creek.

The Huskies are led by Big 22 Players to Watch Nolan Groulx, a wide receiver, and Tyus Fields, a defensive back.
