- You need to use synthetic motor oil instead of conventional motor oil. Yes, synthetic motor oil has its benefits, and you'll find this service available to you if you come down and visit us. However, it is a bit pricier than conventional motor oil so if your car doesn't require it, you can stick with conventional and still enjoy an exceptional performance! (Just make sure you stay up to date on those oil changes!)
- You should use premium gasoline to make the most of your car's performance. False! Premium gasoline is required by particular cars, but if yours isn't one of them then don't waste your hard-earned money. Most cars will do just fine with plain old 87 octane gas, so unless your car requires a higher octane (as stipulated by the owner's manual) don't worry about it!
- You have to get an oil change every 3,000 miles. This is false in a few different ways. If you drive quite a bit and put your car through a lot of wear and tear, you might actually need an oil change more frequently in order to keep your oil full and clean. However, with newer vehicles and advanced technology, you can actually stretch things out a bit and only schedule this auto service in Charlotte every 5,000-7,500 miles or so (and even longer with synthetic oil). Check your owner's manual to see what they recommend!
- You have to change your air filter every time you change your oil. Nope! It's good to have your air filter checked, and we can do this when you visit our Toyota Service Center. However, your air filter doesn't really have a set change schedule. If you drive a lot, you'll have to change it more often because it gets dirtier faster. The dirtier it is, the less effective it is. Ask out trained Toyota technicians when you think you're due for a new air filter!
