FORECAST: Clear conditions following batch of rain

Rain has moved into the Charlotte area Thursday afternoon. Channel 9 viewers reported seeing snow flurries in area counties.

Staying cool: Clouds were starting to filter into the Charlotte region early Thursday morning, and the sky will become overcast by the afternoon. This will keep highs held down to just near 50 degrees.

Rain on the way: The chance for rain starts up by the evening drive home, especially west of Charlotte. The majority of the rain will move in overnight before pushing out before the Friday morning drive. The mountains will receive snow out of this, about 1-3 inches of accumulation.

Weekend outlook: Drier and warmer weather will return just in time for the weekend. High temps will jump to near 60 degrees by Saturday and into the 60s by Sunday. Even warmer weather returns next week, with highs in the 70s to start.
