Strong storms pummel Charlotte area, prompting several warnings Friday

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police responded to at least 30 different calls regarding blocked roads or traffic malfunctions during the storms.

The Charlotte area saw severe weather Friday afternoon and evening. There were reports of downed trees, flooding and thousands of power outages.

Roads across the area were submerged in water, creating dangerous conditions for drivers.
