FORECAST:

  • Dangerous heat will remain the main weather story through the weekend, with heat alerts continuing across the Charlotte area.
  • Afternoon temperatures will climb into the mid-90s, while humidity pushes heat index values to around 105 degrees.
  • A few thunderstorms could pop up during the afternoon, but they will be widely scattered and provide little overall relief from the heat.
  • Any storms that develop could bring heavy rain and frequent lightning.
  • The hot pattern is expected to continue into next week.
