- The air quality in Charlotte Thursday morning lowered to “moderate” as a massive fire burned in the city’s SouthPark neighborhood. Those in the immediate vicinity of the fire had worse air quality.
- Smoke from the fire drifted west of the area, thanks to brisk easterly winds, which improved air quality.
- By early afternoon, flames were extinguished but smoke continued to smolder from the site.
- Rain showers moved in Thursday night, which helped firefighters put out remaining hotspots.
- Friday’s temperatures will be near 72 degrees with another chance of showers.
- Skies are expected to remain overcast Friday but on Saturday, the chance of showers increases, mostly after noon for Charlotte.
- Highs on Saturday will be in the low-80s.
- Clouds are expected to break in the afternoon before possible showers and thunderstorms Saturday evening.
- Morning showers could happen Sunday morning, too.
