- September is starting with summer-like heat across the Charlotte area.
- An air quality alert is in effect through 8 p.m. Tuesday, with stagnant conditions expected to keep air quality a concern over the next few days.
- The bigger story is the heat. Highs will climb to around 97 degrees Tuesday through Friday, with heat index values reaching the triple digits each afternoon.
- The National Weather Service is not currently expecting to issue a heat advisory because heat index values are expected to remain below 105 degrees.
- A change is coming for the Labor Day weekend, with a storm system bringing more clouds, increased storm chances and a much-needed cooldown.
