CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Sunday marks one year since a tornado hit east Mecklenburg and Cabarrus counties in the middle of the night.

The Stevens family in east Mecklenburg had one of the biggest scares that night.

The children were sucked from their home and thrown in all different directions.

Jamal, 7, was tossed about 50 feet to the edge of Interstate 485.

Eyewitness News caught up with them one year later to see how they have rebuilt their lives and how the children are doing.

The Stevens said they are still not able to live in their home.

Over the last year, they have had to move four times.
