Fourth Ward Holiday Tour returns, shifts to outdoor-only event

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Celebrate the season with a festive outdoor stroll through one of Charlotte’s most historic neighborhoods, beautifully decorated for the holidays.

The Fourth Ward Holiday Sip & Stroll is set for Dec. 2-4. Each night from 5-9 p.m., visitors can enjoy a self-guided, porch-crawl-style tour in the picturesque Victorian-era heart of the neighborhood. There will be seasonal live music, carriage rides and complimentary food and drink tastings along the way.

Limited free on-street parking is available throughout the neighborhood on a first-come, first-served basis. Tour-goers are encouraged to use ride-share services or the light rail.

Day-specific tickets, valid only on the date for which they are issued, cost $30. Weekend flex tickets that can be used on any date during the tour cost $40. Tickets can be purchased online at fourthwardclt.org.

During event hours, tour-goers must redeem their tickets at the ticket booth at W. 9th and N. Poplar Streets to receive their guidebooks, which are required for touring.

Since its public debut in 1979, the Fourth Ward Holiday Home Tour has become a beloved Charlotte holiday tradition. Last year, the event was canceled because of the pandemic. This year, organizers shifted to an outdoor-only tour because of ongoing concerns surrounding COVID-19.
