Summer Pops returns to Symphony Park this weekend

CHARLOTTE — Pack a picnic and grab your family and friends — the Charlotte Symphony’s popular Summer Pops series will return to Symphony Park this summer for the first time since 2019.

The series kicks off with “Swing Into Summer,” a tribute to the big band era with jazzy favorites from George Gershwin, Duke Ellington and others, on June 12.

Performances begin at 8:15 p.m. at Symphony Park at Southpark.

The program on June 19, “Hooray for Hollywood,” will feature music from “Frozen,” “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “West Side Story” and other movies.

The third and final Summer Pops concert will be on June 26, 2022. “Opera Masterpieces” will feature memorable selections from operas such as “Carmen,” “La Bohème” and “Turandot,” as well as music from Broadway musicals such as “Phantom of the Opera.”

Tickets are on sale now at charlottesymphony.org.

This season, Summer Pops tickets will be sold as seated pods, available in increments of 4 and 6 people. You can bring fewer people, but if you will have more people in your party than 4 to 6, you will need to purchase pods that seat the number of tickets you need, and your pods will be seated next to each other. Children age 2 and older count as a number to make up your 4-person or 6-person pod.

Tickets need to be purchased in advance. Tickets will not be sold at Symphony Park.
