PAGELAND, S.C. — One man died Wednesday when an 18-wheeler collided with a minivan in Chesterfield County, officials said.
Channel 9 was told that the crash happened just before noon on U.S. Route 601 at S.C. Highway 51 near Pageland.
Officials with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said a 2006 Kenworth truck driven by Addi Ibrahim, 56, collided with a 2000 Chevrolet minivan when the driver of the van tried to turn left onto U.S. Route 601.
State troopers and the Pageland Fire Department responded to the scene.
Authorities said the driver of the minivan, an 83-year-old man, was trapped inside the vehicle following the collision and had to be extricated by first responders.
Ibrahim was not injured, officials said.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.
