CHARLOTTE — A shooting took place at the Peppertree Apartments around 2 p.m. Sunday.

Police told Channel 9 a person was shot, but we don’t have any information on why this violence occurred.

Officers say this was an isolated incident and that the victim and the suspect are both women. Officers also said they are getting cooperation from the community and that they are in the process of talking to the suspect.

“Upon their arrival, they located one victim that sustained a gunshot wound. At that time, MEDIC transported the victim to the hospital where the victim succumbed to their injuries,” said Major Torri Tellis with the CMPD. “We do have someone of interest being detained at this point, which is one of the reasons why we are not in the process of looking for anyone else.”

We asked police about a possible motive in this case. If they do know at this time, they are keeping it to themselves.

This is a developing story. Check back with wsoctv.com for updates.
