MATTHEWS, N.C. — A night out at Lucky Strike Matthews turned deadly.

Channel 9’s Miana Massey spoke with the mother of Travis Lock, a man who was shot and killed in the parking lot of a bowling alley early Sunday morning.

Patricia Lock is still in shock as she tries to process this unimaginable loss.

“I don’t know why somebody would want to take a life that you didn’t give,” Patricia said.

Police say officers were called to the Lucky Strike along Brigman Road just before 1 a.m. They found Travis shot in the parking lot.

“Yeah, you don’t do that to people,” said Patricia. “He was a human. He was good. He was my only son.”

Investigators say an argument inside the bowling alley escalated outside where Travis was killed. His mother says even before she got the call, she knew something wasn’t quite right.

She’s now coming to terms with the loss of her only son.

“I never buried anybody. I’m only 64. I never had to do nothing like this,” Patricia said.

As Travis’ family and friends grieve, they’re holding on to the memories.

His mother said he was a joker.

“He liked to smile and talk, and hug on me, and hug on people,” said Patricia. “He wanted to be noticed. He was a good person. Yeah, and I’m not saying that because he my son.”

She said Travis was a father and in recent years turned his life around for the better.

“Boys will be boys, but he grew up,” Patricia said. “He cleaned up his life. He cleaned it up real good.”

Police say Ray Teasley fled the scene but has since turned himself in. He’s now in custody at the Mecklenburg County Jail.

Teasley is charged with voluntary manslaughter.

We reached out to Lucky Strike about the incident, but we haven’t heard back.
