KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — Three people have been arrested in connection with the 2025 homicide of a Kannapolis man, police said.
The Kannapolis Police Department said officers were called to a parking lot on Pine Hill Lane around 6 p.m. Jan. 6, 2025, where they found a person suffering from a gunshot wound.
Khari Keem Wilkes, 28, of Kannapolis, later died from his injuries.

Police identified the suspects as Cordarian Ne’Quan Morton, 21; Gaines D’Marion Adams V, 21; and Karmelo Jalen Moates, 23, all of Piedmont, South Carolina.
All three suspects are currently incarcerated in South Carolina and will be extradited to North Carolina, police said.
The Kannapolis Police Department thanked the Greenville County, Spartanburg County, and Greenwood County sheriff’s offices for their assistance with the investigation.
