Homicide investigation underway at southwest Charlotte apartments

CHARLOTTE — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police detectives are investigating a homicide at an apartment complex on Wednesday night.

Initially, MEDIC said three people were hurt in the shooting at about 7:30 p.m. in the 7200 block of Forest Pointe Boulevard near Nations Ford Road in southwest Charlotte, MEDIC said.

A man was the homicide victim. Another person was shot, and someone else was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

There was no active search.

One neighbor told Channel 9 they heard 40-50 shots.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department announced about an hour later that the case turned into a homicide investigation.

No additional details have been made available.
