CHARLOTTE, N.C. — There is a proposal to add 200 acres of solar panels on Sherrills Ford Road near Neel Road in Rowan County.

This comes as Duke Energy aims to cut its carbon emissions by 50% in about 10 years.
In the video at the top of this webpage, meteorologist John Ahrens talks about how solar panels on are going to be the key player in Duke Energy's plans.
"We’re going to be more aggressive in how much more renewables and energy storage we’re going to put on our system,” said Erin Cuthbert, with Duke Energy.
