TAYLORSVILLE, N.C. — Sheriff deputies in Alexander County issued a warning about someone impersonating a pizza delivery person.
Delivery drivers told Channel 9 that they are the ones being targeted.

A DoorDash driver said these are cash-only deliveries by Pizza Hut.
However, shortly after picking up the order, she was contacted by someone posing as DoorDash support, saying their account has been flagged.
The driver said someone tried to gain access to her account during a delivery Tuesday night in Lincoln County.
She had picked up the Pizza Hut order, but the address did not exist, and when she tried to contact the person who placed the order, no one picked up.
Channel 9’s Dave Faherty spoke with the sheriff, who said someone came to the home of an older woman who had not placed an order.
He is asking people not to provide payment and personal information to a person if they didn’t place a delivery order.
Listen to what the DoorDash driver told me earlier about her concerns…she fortunately didn’t fall for the scam.
“Things like that would put a delivery driver in jeopardy,” said Alexa, a DoorDash driver. “You’re going to houses that didn’t order anything. And especially after dark and things like that, it can put us in jeopardy.”
Faherty reached out to both Pizza Hut, and DoorDash to see if they are aware of a possible scam.
Faherty is looking into whether the DoorDash scheme and fake Pizza Hut delivery drivers are connected.
He has reached out to both companies.

We want to make our community aware of an ongoing scam involving someone impersonating a Pizza Hut delivery driver.
The individual is reportedly attempting to deliver pizza and collect payment from unsuspecting residents.
Please use caution if you receive an unexpected pizza delivery, and do not provide payment or personal information if you are unsure of the delivery.
