CHARLOTTE — American Airlines has brought its newly upgraded Boeing 777-300ER to Charlotte Douglas International Airport, adding more premium seating and new luxury features to flights between Charlotte and London.
The aircraft is the first of 20 Boeing 777-300ER planes in American’s fleet to receive a complete interior renovation. The airline said the updated plane offers more business and premium economy seats than any other U.S. carrier.
The aircraft is scheduled to operate flights between Charlotte and London’s Heathrow Airport as part of American’s regular schedule this month.

The upgraded plane features 144 premium seats, including 70 Flagship Suite seats with privacy doors, additional personal storage, and a chaise lounge seating position.
There are also 44 redesigned Premium Economy seats with adjustable calf and foot rests, sculpted headrests and additional storage. Another 30 Main Cabin Extra seats offer additional legroom.
The updated cabin also includes free high-speed Wi-Fi and next-generation inflight entertainment.
American says the redesigned interiors build on features introduced on its premium-configured Boeing 787-9 and Airbus A321XLR aircraft.
The airline operates its 777-300ER fleet from several hubs, including Charlotte, on long-haul routes to destinations such as London, Tokyo, São Paulo, Buenos Aires and Sydney.
