Charlotte-based Atrium on Jan. 15 filed a rezoning with the city for the 3.14-acre site at 720 E. Morehead St. If approved, the rezoning will allow Atrium to build up to 525 apartments and up to 15,000 square feet of ground floor retail, the site plan shows. At least 20% of the units will be income restricted for residents earning 60% of the area median income. The rent restriction will remain in place for no fewer than 30 years, according to the site plan.
Atrium declined to discuss project details, but a representative told Charlotte Business Journal on Jan. 23 the health-care system “continues to work with partners to increase access to mixed-income housing options and offer quality health care to the communities we serve.”
