CHARLOTTE, N.C. — "Black Friday," the day after Thanksgiving," was given its name as a negative nickname due to the traffic, crowds, and behavior that often surround the day.
Today, it is known more as a positive for the hundreds of shopping deals.

The Better Business Bureau is offering tips on how to make your "Black Friday" shopping experience better and more productive.
Officials said American shoppers spend, on average, $1,007.24 during the holiday shopping season.
"Black Friday" is recognized as one of the busiest shopping days of the year.
