CHARLOTTE — Charlotte FC played its final home game of the season Wednesday night against the Columbus Crew and before the match, the U.S. Army Golden Knights parachuting team landed on the Bank of America field.

The Golden Knights date back to 1959.
The maneuver they performed in mid-air was called the stackout.
“We were initially created to help the Army with public relations and recruiting efforts,” said Staff Sgt. Gabriel Colon, Golden Knights Black Team.
Wednesday night’s jump was for Military Appreciation Night at the Charlotte FC match.
In the video at the top of this webpage, Channel 9 reporter Jonathan Lowe hopped on a plane to ride along with the Golden Knights parachuting team that descended onto the field.
“All of us are going to simultaneously exit the aircraft, face opposite ways in the air while firing off our smoke canisters that we attach to our feet,” Colon said. “Falling at approximately 120 mph to 130 mph.”
