CHARLOTTE — The lights are out at the Bojangles Coliseum and it isn’t solely because the schedule is empty.

A failure in the electrical lines from arena to a transformer have caused a power outage since late last month, Karen Brand, a spokesperson for the Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority (CRVA), told Channel 9. The cause for malfunction was not known.

Any impact on events at the coliseum has been negligible as the arena was scheduled to be closed this summer to resurface the parking lot, Brand said. Most staff with offices in the building had also previously moved out.

Brand said the CRVA is in the process of evaluating the repairs and intends to have work complete ahead of the fall calendar of games and shows.

The next event on the Bojangles Coliseum schedule is Disney on Ice’s presentation of Frozen and Encanto beginning September 29.
