CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. — Catawba County students are getting high marks after participating in a food drive that will help feed thousands in the community this winter.

Thirteen schools collected 10.2 tons of food, which will be distributed to eight local agencies by Second Harvest Food Bank.

Some of the food will end up at the Hickory Soup Kitchen, where an average of 220 people are fed each day.
