CHARLOTTE — Charlotte Water is voicing its concerns about a provision in the North Carolina state budget. State lawmakers want to extend a moratorium on interbasin transfers until 2028.

This comes as Charlotte requests to pull 30 million gallons of water from the Catawba River to serve the eastern part of Mecklenburg County.
Charlotte Water worries that the yearlong extension will affect its ability to provide water service in this part of the county.
