CHARLOTTE — A Charlotte staple has a chance to take the national spotlight soon.

Coyote Joe’s in west Charlotte has been nominated for “Club of the Year” by the Academy of Country Music.

The country music bar has been operating for more than 30 years and has hosted the likes of Garth Brooks, Blake Shelton, Merle Haggard, and Luke Combs.

In a Facebook post, the club said it was grateful to be nominated.

“Coyote Joe’s is honored and humbled to have been nominated for the prestigious ACM Club of the Year award,” the post read. “It is truly a privilege to be recognized among such esteemed company as Billy Bob’s Texas, Grizzly Rose, Joe’s On Weed Street, and Gruene Hall. We would like to extend our congratulations to all of the other nominees for this award who have contributed greatly to the country music industry.”

The ACM Awards will be streamed live on Amazon Prime on May 11. Dolly Parton and Garth Brooks will host the show.
